Today I want to talk about an unexpected way to create welcome in your church. It might seem counter-intuitive, but I think this is more effective in the long run than any cute gift or committee or other method.
In episode 37 (Better Than Elderberries with Noelle Talley), Noelle gave me interesting insight into her family’s journey of becoming an integral part of a new church community. I realize, as I look back on our own family’s experience, there is one way many churches (and women’s Bible studies, and mom’s groups, and so on…) don’t even think to embrace members. But it makes a huge difference in feeling connected and vital to the family of believers.
It goes without saying that you’ll vet volunteers, but when you have eyes looking to see how others might use their gifts, experiences and wisdom, you open up a whole new way of connecting, and you enrich the body along the way!
Want to share? Pin this image so others can find it, and so you can refer back to this episode to use this unexpected way to make others feel welcome… and to become more involved yourself in your church community, for God’s glory and for your good!
