I introduce to you… cream cheese chocolate chip cookie bars. 🙂
Who doesn’t need a quick, easy, and reliable crowd pleaser for a dessert to bring to your table any time of the year? Kimberly from Lavish Hospitality shared her (most requested!) cream cheese chocolate chip cookie bars recipe with us today and from the feedback of her friends-circle, it’s magical! I’m planning to make these this week as a gluten-free version; I’ll check back in and share my successes on Instagram! 🙂
From Kimberly:
Back when I was single and had more time on my hands, and honestly when blogging was a lot different than it is now, I had a food blog. I wanted a space where I could share my love of cooking and restaurant reviews… a place I could direct my college girls (I served in college ministry at the time) with the recipes that I had cooked with them.
This one recipe was my most requested and the honest truth: it isn’t even really homemade. It IS, however, easy, quick, and delicious.
Why do I share this recipe with you on a hospitality post? Because sometimes we think “hospitaliity” means fancy, fully-homemade meals or desserts. But not everyone loves to cook, and sometimes you just want something semi-homemade (a whole show was once built on that premise!)… and life doesn’t always go the way we want to. Sometimes we don’t get that homemade cake done – or the cake sticks the pan, or we drop the brownies, or we maybe forget that people are coming over.
(Angela here: I HAVE SO DONE THAT!! 😳😆 That’s a story I can tell you…)
Or we are asked to bring something to a family who is struggling with illness and we are busy and don’t have lots of extra time.
And for those and all the other normal times we might want to make a treat, with a shortcut? We need a go-to recipe. This is your new one.
So, here you go! If you make it, come say hi and tell me what you think!
- 1 tube of chocolate chip cookie dough if you can find a gluten free version of this, use it if you have folks with allergies
- 1 8 oz package cream cheese softened
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 egg
-
Preheat oven to 350
-
Put cream cheese, egg, and sugar in mixer and turn it on low speed.
-
Line an 8x8 pan with parchment paper for easy removal of the bars.
-
Press down 60% of the dough. (I just press it with my hands because its easiest.)
-
Pour cream cheese mixture on top and smooth over all the dough.
-
Crumble remaining cookie dough on top.
-
Bake for 40 minutes.
Let these cool – trust me. And enjoy! These are a perfect blend of cream and cookie and they’re easier to eat than cheesecake! No forks required.
