Feeding Joy (and a Thanksgiving idea round-up!)

Am I the only one who can get a bit grumpy gloomy a pain in the neck melancholy when things aren’t how I hope for the holidays?

I had a little heart-check this week and I’m climbing out of my whiny state (I’m going to be missing a couple kiddos this Thanksgiving), and I’m gearing up for some happy celebrating next week!  I thought I’d share a couple ideas you can use as you prepare your home and heart to celebrate, including a Thanksgiving scripture printable you can grab for your home.  First up, here’s a tradition we started a couple years ago: we have a thankful-“tree”  – a few branches where we tie thoughts about what we’re thankful for.  It’s a pretty display and brings meaning throughout the fall season and even into Christmas.

Keep a bowl of printed or plain paper cards so everyone can write something and share.

Here’s the decor I’m using on our table this year, and I share more in my e-book Everyday Welcome: Cozy Holidays, along with recipes and biblical encouragement, journaling prompts and how to transition this table into a Christmas table you’ll love!

These modern autumn design ideas make my inner minimalist very happy.

Got littles at your table?  Ella Claire shared these adorable printables and table settings a while ago that I love.

I think these understated table settings are beautiful and un-fussy (if that’s a word…).

Ok, this Pilgrim Scavenger Hunt would have everyone in stitches – I may just whip this out for my older kids!!!

How about a few tips for the big day-of-thanks?  Here are some ideas to keep you grounded on Thanksgiving that I shared a while back at Dancing With My Father.

And if you’re looking to get your heart in the right place, here are scriptures to inspire thankfulness you can journal, study, memorize, and put around your home.

I also wanted to share these a free printable with you that you can use in a frame, gift to a friend, or just washi-tape to your fridge as you celebrate.  (Use the form below to be taken to the opt-in and download!!)
