This summer we decided to remodel our middle son’s room. He inherited it from a brother who’s now flown the nest, and it seems about time to personalize it to make it more his own, to add a little class, and to make it more user-friendly. We home-school and E. often likes to work on his assignments in his own space. He also loves to read and write, so having a personal, comfortable place to create is important. Here’s the inspiration I’ve created for our what I’m calling our “teen boy’s industrial vintage schoolhouse teen boy’s room!”
Goals:
- Room darkening (him)/still classy (mom)
- Writing/school space
- Organization for clothes
- Display for “stuff”
- Mood and task lighting
- Storage/access for books
- Reading/devotional space

I’m always looking for ways to incorporate the truth of God’s character into our decor. I created this free scripture print to use in the room (that he can replace as the mood strikes). Grab a copy, along with a watercolor version, by subscribing to Everyday Welcome!
Do you have tips for a stylish, functional teen boy’s room? What are your favorite ways to make your kids feel welcome in their own home?
