In an effort to dive into this winter season healthier (and honestly, with some major family events on the horizon, a bit leaner!), I’ve been digging into some concepts I’ve learned from the “Bulletproof” movement as well as some I’ve learned from Whole 30 principles. This “bulletproof” style bone broth latte incorporates healing, nutrient-dense bone broth, along with butter (use ghee to stay Whole 30 compliant) and coconut oil, and some spicy ingredients to add a punch of flavor.
My husband and I try to meet every morning to connect, pray, read, and prepare for our day (even if we only get five minutes to connect before the gang is all up!). We take turns making each other coffee or tea. I haven’t made him this yet – I’ve spoiled myself after he’s gone for the day – but I can’t wait to see his face when he takes his first sip!
It might seem weird at first to think of having soup for breakfast, but calling it a “latte” might help. And I promise, once you taste this, and see how full you are, you’ll be hooked.
I like a spicy kick in my food, but if you prefer your dishes a little more tame, try reducing the jalapeno or ginger a little bit. Although, I dare you to try it as-is. 😉
- 1 ½ cups beef or chicken bone broth
- ½ fresh jalapeno seeds removed
- ½ inch piece fresh ginger peeled
- 1 tablespoon grassfed salted butter*
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
-
Combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender.
-
Process until completely combined and hot.*
-
With a high-speed blender, the container will feel warm to the touch and you may see a puff of steam from the lid-vent.
-
If you do not have a high-speed blender, warm broth before blending so you don’t overheat the motor.
If making this recipe as part of Whole 30, be sure to use ghee instead of butter.
(If you’d like to know a little more of my thoughts on the Whole 30, I shared some life lessons I learned here.
What’s your favorite healthy and delicious way to welcome the morning?
Inspiring (warm, spicy, filling) welcome,
